Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
'Pages & Co' author, Anna James, came to St George's on the 25th of November to talk to the Remove girls.
First Anna told us a bit about herself: she is thirty-two years old and was a school librarian and a journalist before she became a writer. She first published 'Pages & Co' in September 2018. Since then she has been working on the second book, and in September 2019 she published 'Pages & Co: Tilly and the Lost Fairy Tales'.
Anna told us a bit about book wandering - this is when you can jump in and out of a story. She wanted us to feel what it is like to write a fairy tale. Anna came up with an activity we could do to write the beginning of a fairy tale. There was a basic storyline with lots of blanks in it and our year group had to come up with replacements for the blanks. Our final story was about a St George's girl called Helga.
Anna later read us a section of her second book, and at the end of the talk, we were able to buy the book and get our other books signed. Miss Barr asked the girls in Remove to make posters and book wandering leaflets. There was a competition of who could produce the best poster and leaflet. The winner of the poster was Deepti and the winner for the leaflets was Ashmita.
