Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
My name is Neve and I am in P5Y. I am a young ambassador for the children’s cancer charity It’s Good 2 Give. There are four ambassadors in Junior School – me, Isla, Kate, and Megan and we work together to come up with ideas to raise money for the charity and help at events. For some events, we ask our school friends to volunteer and they have helped in the past at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk and also at our Christmas bag packing event. I’m sure we will be asking them for help at other events this year! We have even persuaded Miss Wilkie, my P5 teacher to come along to a future event which is cool.
In December, we volunteered to help with bag packing at Marks & Spencer where we helped customers pack their shopping and in return, they gave a donation to the charity. It was good fun and we spoke to so many people, telling them about the charity and what we do to help. It was pretty cold, my mum and Kate’s mum were freezing, it was funny seeing them hop from foot to foot to keep warm!
With our efforts, and everyone else who volunteered that day, we managed to raise just over £2000 for the charity which It’s Good 2 Give confirmed is the most money that has ever been raised at a bag packing event. We are really happy for the charity and glad that we could help.
In addition to the great work done by Neve and our other ambassadors, we raised £480 at our Primary 3-5 Christmas Musical. Keep up the good work Neve!
