Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On Monday, the Primary 3 girls came to school dressed as rainforest explorers to start off our topic, 'The Rainforest'. The outfits were amazing: there was a mix of camouflage, different hats, a variety of footwear and lots of different accessories to help them on their adventure through the rainforest. The accessories included: binoculars, maps, compasses, whistles, torches, cameras, mosquito nets and rucksacks. They were all well-equipped to head into the rainforest!
During the day, the girls 'explored' the rainforest through virtual reality headsets and came face to face with some of the animals of the rainforest! Some of the animals they saw were a praying mantis, a rhinoceros beetle, and a baby anaconda.
They also saw buttress roots on the enormous trees, explored the forest floor and looked up in the canopy for plants and animals.
It was a great way to start our Rainforest topic!
