Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
On the 20th of February 2020, the St George’s and Merchiston Castle School Chinese Students took part in a belated Chinese New Year Dinner at the Imperial Palace Restaurant in Longstone, Edinburgh.
We were all very excited to attend! At 7 pm we arrived at the restaurant where we were directed to our tables. On the tables, there was a mixture of Merchiston students and St George’s students. The tables had nameplates that the Upper 4 Chinese class had made. Grace designed the program and Greta designed the table mats.
We talked amongst our tables for a bit then the food arrived! For the starter, we had duck pancakes. For the main course, we had rice and beef, then we got lucky envelopes with chocolate coins in them, as well as a good luck note. After that, there were a few performances from the different year groups, including St George’s Lower 4 and Upper 4. Everyone sang in Chinese and we learned a lot.
We talked for a little more before a bagpipe performance from Sixth Form Merchiston students, as well as thank you speeches from both schools. Overall, it was a very successful social and an enjoyable night!
