Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
On Tuesday 3rd March, Lower School hosted an Eco-Friendly Action Day where we invited pupils from Blackhall Primary School to our campus for some fun eco activities. P6P were lucky enough to be able to join in. We really enjoyed having Blackhall to visit! We did four workshops with them, including food tech, art, science and outdoor learning.
This was a great marketing event for our school, and it was a great way to socialise with other pupils our age. We were put into four groups of 16 pupils, with two being group leaders from St George’s to help guide and look after our visitors.
When we did food tech, we made four different dishes which we put in a flatbread. They were delicious! In art, we made paper roses with coloured paper. They were very beautiful when we had finished making them. Afterwards, we had science which was about how greenhouses work. We made our very own mini greenhouses out of recycled bottles.
Then we had lunch in our groups and had a massive football game with everybody at playtime which was great fun!
Finally, we had our outdoor learning session beside our new pond area. We played three different games about our environment. They showed us how important our environment is.
At the end of the day, we met back up with all the groups for a round-up of the day. Everybody had had a great time and the event was a real success. By the time the Blackhall pupils got back on their minibuses, some of us had made some really good friends.
The other P6 classes are looking forward to their turn in the next event.
