Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
In our end of term assemblies I usually read out the citations for the Scott Cup, which is awarded to a girl or girls who have gone above and beyond in their contribution to the school community in some way. Sadly we have not been able to finish the term in our customary fashion, but we were determined that the Scott Cup should still be awarded.
The following girls were nominated this term:
Kaitlin in Lower 5 for Services to the Digital Community. As we all learn to navigate the new world of remote learning, Kaitlin has volunteered digital solutions and strategies to her classmates quickly and selflessly, pitching in with knowledgeable answers and helpful suggestions.
Flora in Upper 6 for her leadership of the Space Design team in its first year. She led the team to the national finals and was identified as an excellent leader by the competition organisers. She inspired the other members of her team with her dedication and organisation, and has left a legacy which should keep the club running strong for years to come.
Najd and Louisa in Upper 6 for their contribution to the Primary 4 and Primary 5 Games Club on a Thursday afternoon. They attended the club on a weekly basis for both terms of this year and have led the whole session. They have planned activities and games, delivered them successfully (learning along the way) and have joined in on many occasions to motivate the girls.
Emma in Upper 6 for her services to Geography. Emma is a highly motivated geographer who has consistently gone above and beyond expectations. She has dedicated her own time by offering to support the department on a number of occasions, sharing her enthusiasm and passion for the subject and knowledge of the course with others in a mature and thoughtful manner. She has also supported a Lower 4 class every week this session. The students always looked forward to her arrival and have appreciated her guidance, patience and enthusiasm. They were keen to pass on their own thanks to her.
Congratulations and thanks go to all the girls who were nominated by their teachers, for their contributions to the life of our community. This term the Scott Cup is awarded, in absentia, to Flora, Najd, Louisa and Emma. Well done.
