Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
We are very proud of the hard work and commitment of our students over the course of this year. Although examinations were cancelled, they have remained focused and determined during a very difficult time. Our teaching staff worked with immense professionalism, showing rigorous attention to detail in submitting the estimates that have led to this year’s grades.
We are delighted that at Advanced Higher 100% of our entries were graded A to D, with 98% achieving A-C grades. 92% gained an A or a B and 61% were A grades.
Our leavers are moving on to a wide range of courses and institutions, including St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Oxford, Bristol, Durham, Newcastle, Exeter, Leeds and the University of Vermont. They will be studying courses including Computing Science, Medicine, Psychology, Law, Languages, Philosophy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, PPE, International Relations, Geography, Chinese and Economics. The girls’ excellent achievements at Higher level last summer meant that many of them were holding unconditional offers but as ever this has not affected their work ethic, and these results are all immensely well deserved. Senior staff are in school this week working with our students as they receive their grades.
At Higher level 60% of entries gained A grades, with 21 girls awarded the highest grade in 5 or 6 subjects. 91% have achieved an A-C and 83% of entries resulted in an A or a B grade. With these results our students will have an impressive choice of universities and courses open to them as they embark on their university applications.
We congratulate all our candidates on their impressive achievements, which, in the midst of the challenges that this year has presented, are tribute to their determination, commitment to high standards and excellent teaching across the whole year.
