Feeling the leaves crunch underfoot, tucking into warming treats and hearing the wind whistle through the branches of a majestic oak. Harvest season is here, and it is the perfect time of the year to discover the fruit and vegetables we can pick!
The nursery children visited Houldsworth House in order to harvest some apples and blackberries! On the way to the boarding house and back the children sang their favourite song, “Picking up apples, Picking apples, How many apples have you got?”
“How many apples have you collected Big Owls? Which one is the biggest and which one the smallest Little Owls?” Such a rich learning experience apple picking has been for our children. Now that we have more apples than we can count, we can come up with some amazing apple recipes!
