In science, we have been learning about forces. There are so many different types of forces around us and we are discovering them through different activities. We realised that we have been using two forces- the pushing and pulling forces, every day! We have also been exploring some hidden forces through science investigations. One of these forces is called friction. Friction is a force that can stop things from moving. We found out that because there is less friction on a slope, a round object like a ball can start moving downhill on its own!
We learnt about a very famous scientist, Sir Isaac Newton who discovered gravity. Gravity is the force with which Earth pulls objects towards it and it helps us stay on the ground. To test gravity, we dropped heavy and light objects at the same time from a high platform in the Fantastical Forest. We really enjoyed visiting the Fantastical Forest and dropping random things like a giant pencil and a pumpkin!
Another fun challenge was to lift and carry a heavy bag. Although we enjoyed showing off our muscle power, we were glad to find out that using a wheelbarrow made our jobs much easier!
We really enjoyed these science investigations. Our exploration is not over yet! We are looking forward to learning about 'magnetic force' next week.
