Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Yesterday evening, Upper 4 parents and students attended online presentations about options for the Fifth Form. Mrs Hems and Mrs Edwards provided details about the curriculum structure and the options process here at St George's.
At St George's, qualifications in Upper 5 (S4) lead to General Certificate of Education (GCSE) qualifications and are followed in Sixth Form (S5 and S6) with SQA Higher and Advanced Higher courses. Five core curriculum areas with three additional subjects, along with an Elective programme, are studied over Lower 5 (S3) and Upper 5 (S4), with options being selected upon the basis of individual choice rather than a fixed column structure.
Making options decisions is straightforward for some students but for others the decision-making process is more difficult, with our flexibility in choices and the support that is offered we aim to ensure that every student finds a combination of subjects that offers her interest and enjoyment in her learning.
