Last weekend Houldsworth House held a Swap Shop for unwanted clothes and nick-nacks. The process began with girls and houseparents donating their unwanted clothes until we had enough to open a small charity shop! After quarantining everything, the shop was open for each girl to claim up to 5 items. If only one thing has been learned through this process, it is how difficult it is to choose only 5 items from a small mountain of clothes.
Making the most of the sun, we took to the garden last week to make our own tie-dye shirts. After learning the various tactics and concepts surrounding this particular form of abstract art, elastic bands bound unsuspecting white shirts before they were drowned in various inks. After 24 hours of soaking, our designs were ready to be on show and we celebrated in the only way we know how: popping bubbles with tennis rackets!
