Eco Day in Junior School

IMG 0001On Thursday 28 April, the Junior School girls celebrated Eco Day today with the message of 'Think, Act, Save'. Throughout the day, the girls participated in a variety of eco activities in their classrooms or in the playground.

All girls made a ‘Mr Grasshead’ by filling an old sock or leg of a pair of tights with grass seed and soil. We then personalised our grass heads with googly eyes, ears, noses, pipe-cleaner glasses or feathers. We are looking forward to watching grass sprout like green hair from the bald heads in the coming weeks. We must remember to water them daily!

In addition, every class participated in a session from Boogiebeats, where Zoe helped us to exercise our bodies and minds through yoga activities.

Everyone wrote an eco-message on ‘petals’ which were then put together to make giant sunflowers, which are now adorning our corridor wall. We also designed Eco posters to advertise ways to help save the planet. These will be displayed in the corridors soon.

Other activities that the girls took part in were: The Primary 3 girls made static electricity butterflies- they made butterflies from tissue paper and then made them fly by using the static electricity from a balloon; The Primary 4 girls made bug hotels from cardboard cups and newspaper; and the Primary 5 girls collected pebbles to decorate.

Thank you to the Eco committee for organising such an entertaining and fun day!
