Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
This year we have had a team of pupils working on the Rights Respecting School Award. This scheme recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within a school and beyond. St George's has recently been accredited by Unicef as a Rights Respecting School (Bronze Award).
Having Rights Respecting status demonstrates that we have made a commitment to upholding the rights of children and educating our own pupils on their rights and responsibilities. In Rights Respecting Schools children’s rights are promoted and realised, adults and children work towards this goal together.
There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem.
