Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
On Saturday night, all the boarders and myself were treated to a Chinese buffet in celebration of the U6s nearing the end of their time at Houldsworth. We enjoyed a large range of House favourite food and drink, and all gathered in the common room, where the houseparents had thoughtfully decorated it with fairy lights, photos of the U6 boarders throughout the years, and a tree of ‘Good Luck’ messages from all the younger boarders.
The night was filled with the four of us reminiscing on all the time we have spent together and the memories we have made in Houldsworth, along with the saddening realisation that we are leaving a place we call home. The evening continued with a massive water fight after dinner, where everyone (including the houseparents!) got absolutely drenched, either by water guns or by buckets filled to the brim. Everyone had a smile on their face as they targeted the leavers for one last farewell and despite being soaked, the U6s and I could not have asked for a better send off. The night came to a close with the rest of us cosying round the TV with popcorn and sweets to watch the Eurovision Song Contest, ending the night on a high note.
I know that we are all so grateful for the time we have spent at Houldsworth, and the houseparents and the friends we have made here will be greatly missed.
