On Monday 6 February, the Junior Road Safety Club had a visit from two of our local police officers to talk about all things road safety related.
First of all, they showed us their kit and we got to feel their hard vests and the batons. One of our P5 Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO), Isabel, was put in handcuffs! Then Hattie from P6 and Anne from P3 were selected to dress as police officers.
We had to act as a team of police officers and think what we would do if there had been a road accident. We had to lay out signs, put out cones, stop other traffic, turn on the police lights and remember to call other emergency services.
It was a really interesting visit and we are looking forward to seeing them again.
The JRSOs, Isabel and Josephine from P5, chose their favourite parts of the police visit:
- I liked getting put in the handcuffs but they were too big for me and I could pull my hands out which was funny. Isabel
- I liked when we put all the cones out. Josephine
- I liked it when they showed their weapons and kit. Josephine
- I liked hearing all their stories about their job! Isabel
