The Ducklings turned into archaeologists for a day! To tie in with our dinosaur topic, we armed ourselves with spades, trowels and rakes and headed off to the Secret Garden to dig for dinosaur bones. Using our sharp eyes and strong arms, we managed to spot and dig out lots of bones of different sizes and shapes.
Our discoveries brought about a discussion on skeletons, and we talked about the bones inside our own bodies and whether they would be bigger or smaller than the bones inside the dinosaurs. Our dinosaur excavation was full of opportunities for learning, and we will follow it up by bringing the bones indoors with us to add to our sand tray, where our Ducklings can continue to explore and investigate them using magnifying glasses and other tools to further extend their learning and understanding of dinosaurs and skeletons.
