Primary 6 Hockey Tournament & Masterclass

This is the first year we have hosted a Primary 6 Hockey Tournament. It is a fantastic addition to the fixture list and gives the Primary 6 girls the experience of playing in a tournament against various schools. The St George’s team started positively against Loretto, scoring 2. There were plenty of opportunities for more goals but the girls required a bit more composure in front of goal, as they missed a few key overload situations.

The next game against Edinburgh Academy was always going to be our most difficult match having played against them earlier in the season. Unfortunately, they used the space very well and put us under a lot of pressure with their quick passing. It was good to play against such a structured team and hopefully the girls will learn from the experience.

Our third game against George Watson’s started positively with St George's scoring first. However, we struggled with clearing the ball from defence and paid the price for this. The girls bounced back against Compass. Our passing was much better and consequently made it difficult for their defence. Winning our final game placed us third in the tournament.
