Women's Eights Head of the River Race

On Friday 10 March, Lizzie (U6) and her boatclub crewmates travelled to London to take part in the Women's Eights Head of the River Race (WeHORR) which took place on Saturday. This is a very high profile women's race where, in the reverse of the Cambridge and Oxford boat race, the eight rowers (and one cox) row from Mortlake to Putney on the Thames.

There were over 300 entries with several different categories. The elite boats (which included GB Olympic rowers) set off first in the order, followed by intermediate and senior boats (eg Universities, larger clubs and a few international entries). The novice boats bring up the rear. The Saint Andrew Boat Club crew won both the Novice Club and Small Club categories with a stunning time of 20.26.6mins, a time which put them around 4 seconds ahead in both categories. Their boat number was 244 and they finished in 68th position - an amazing result.

Well done Lizzie!
