Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On Tuesday, 23May, the whole of Remove went on a history trip to Inchcolm Island (a small island in the Firth of Forth) and Blackness Castle.
We first got a ferry to Inchcolm Island, which took about 30 minutes long. When we got there, we explored the abbey and found out how the monks communicated without talking while they ate. We also learned some very interesting things about different areas of the abbey such as the where the monks ate and the Chapel House.
We then got the ferry back to Edinburgh and got on a coach to Blackness Castle. At this point we explored the castle while participating in a scavenger hunt. Many of the questions took us to various parts of the castle as we hunted and counted different characteristics of the castle. This included how they defended the castle or how the castle was shaped. When we had finished, we caught the coach back to school and went home.
It was a fun day and I hope that the Removes next year enjoy it as much as I and the rest us in Remove did.
